What is microneedling?

Microneedling is a non-surgical procedure that involves creating a series of microscopic punctures in the skin’s surface with a hand-held device. This prompts the natural production of collagen and elastin and allows your body to naturally repair signs of damage for smoother, firmer, and more toned skin.

How does microneedling work?

Also known as collagen induction therapy, microneedling involves either a fine-needle roller or pen device that creates tiny holes in the top layer of the skin. An application of skin cream or serum is often added after the procedure.

This “controlled injury” process opens up your skin with tiny tears. Then, healing promotes collagen production, which helps fill in and smooth out wrinkles and fine lines.

What will microneedling improve the appearance of?

Our microneedling treatment can improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, acne scarring, [non-raised] keloid scarring, stretch marks, hair loss, and rosacea.

What areas of the body can be treated with microneedling?

Microneedling isn't exclusive to just the face. While it's the area of skin that is most often treated, the procedure can be done anywhere the skin on the body needs a collagen boost, particularly those that have stretch marks, like the legs, chest, or butt.

How many  Microneedling treatments will I need?

This depends on what you are treating with the micro needling and how well your skin responds to the treatment. After a consultation we can help you better determine how many treatments you might need.

Is there anything I should do before my microneedling treatment?

We recommend stopping any intense topical treatments (such as those containing retinol) a few days before your microneedling treatment as these can potentially aggravate the skin. We also advise stopping any aggressive acids within the week of the procedure.

What happens during the treatment?

Your aesthetician will run the microneedling tool evenly across the skin to create tiny holes in the outermost layer of the skin which will take about 15 to 30 minutes.

The most common sensation during the procedure is a warm, scratching feeling as the tool is moved around the face. You may also notice some discomfort on the “bonier” areas of your face, such as your hairline, forehead, and jawline.

Post-procedure for Microneedling

How long is downtime?

Wait a minimum of 90 minutes before applying anything else to this skin apart from what your esthetician applies. This includes sunscreen, makeup, moisturizer, etc. It typically takes 24-72 hours for all redness and pinprick scabbing to disappear.

When should I expect results from MixTo™ CO2 treatment?

Everyone’s skin is different and, therefore, everyone will experience different timing when it comes to achieving the results they want. Depending on your goals and skin's current condition it may take anywhere from 3 days to 6 weeks to see results.

What aftercare do I need post-microneedling?

Our skin professionals will discuss post-procedure skincare following the treatment to help soothe, calm, and protect the skin. Continue to treat the skin gently for s couple of days after microneedling, and then you may resume your normal skincare routine.
